About Julie

Julie Hall is a seasoned vocalist whose rich tone, emotional depth, and captivating stage presence have made her a standout in the world of live music.

Julie’s journey began in her hometown of Baltimore, where she formed her own Top 40 band at just 15. By 18, she had already worked with Sister Sledge, recorded the theme for a PBS television special, and appeared in musical theater—all while honing her stage presence and musical versatility. She later graduated with honors from Howard University, continuing to shape her artistry through both academic study and real-world performance.

Julie has released two albums. Her debut, Julie Hall (1999), is a collection of jazz standards performed with trio accompaniment, featuring traditional interpretations alongside more contemporary takes. Her most recent release, Live at Montpelier (2018) captures the full depth of Julie’s artistry in performance, breathing new life into beloved classics with elegance, subtlety, and a deep emotional connection.

A recent highlight includes her appearance in a tribute to vocal icon Phyllis Hyman—an artist whose influence can be felt in Julie’s own soulful, expressive style. The performance was a powerful homage, rich with reverence and authenticity.
